什么是学会看?
Learning to Look is an art history and art appreciation program which is presented to WDS students in grades K-5. Our Learning to Look program is chaired and taught by parent volunteers who are trained in the Learning to Look curriculum. Our curriculum is based on the Permanent Collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 以及现代艺术博物馆, and typically includes five sessions over the course of the school year - all centered around a set time period; each session introduces students to a group of artists and designated paintings relevant to the period we are studying. Students are encouraged to explore the artist’s work by looking at the Elements of Art - color, 行, 形状, 纹理, 光, 和空间. Students are also given the opportunity to create their own works of art inspired by the master paintings discussed in their lesson. Our students’ interpretive creations are part of a rotating art gallery that is displayed in the corridor off the Main Entrance to Wolfsohn - take a look next time you are on campus! 在单元结束时, students take a field trip to the MET (and occasionally the MOMA, depending on curriculum) to view in person the artwork they studied all year long in class. There is nothing quite like viewing an artist’s masterpiece on display in real life!
支持WDS的艺术活动
WDS is establishing a Laurie Lebowitz Learning to Look Program fund, to raise awareness of the art appreciation program and to continue to keep the program and corresponding museum trips active and strong for many years to come. 该基金是为了纪念劳里·莱博维茨(Laurie Lebowitz)而设立的. 劳里多年来一直是白龙会的一名热心的家长志愿者, 2006年至2014年担任“学会看”组织主席. Laurie believed in the power of incorporating art education into the classroom. Laurie's passion and commitment to the Learning to Look program brought enrichment to students and parents alike at WDS. 我们希望你能考虑作出承诺, in memory of Laurie or in honor of a Learning to Look volunteer who had an impact on your child's appreciation for the arts.
